What benefits are available to me?

All ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ academic programs and some training programs are eligible for veterans education benefits.

Eligible Programs of Study 

You may be eligible for several types of veterans education and training benefits, but be aware that your decision to apply for a certain education benefit could impact your eligibility for other benefits. Check the VA website to . Prospective students should complete ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½'s enrollment requirements and submit transcripts from all colleges previously attended.

You must apply to the VA for your education before the college can certify you to use your benefits. You can do this online at .

To start using your VA Educational Benefits at ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½, please follow the steps for your chapter indicated below.

Post-9/11 GI Bill® (Chapter 33)

90 days active aggregate service (after 9/10/01) or 30 days continuous if discharged for disability.

Montgomery GI Bill® – Active Duty (MGIB-AD/Chapter 30)

2 yr. continuous enlistment (minimum duty varies by service date, branch, etc.)

Montgomery GI Bill® – Selected Reserve (MGIB-SR/Chapter 1606) 

6 yr. commitment (after 6/30/85)

Survivors’ and Dependents’ Educational Assistance Program (DEA/Chapter 35) 

Eligible dependents of Veterans who are permanently and totally disabled due to a service-related condition or of Veterans who died while on active duty or as a result of a service-related condition

If you are the Dependent (Child) of a 100% Disabled War Veteran, you may qualify for Free Tuition for Certain War Veterans Children. All applications should be submitted online at . Applicants will be notified by mail. Please note, processing times may vary based on the volume of applications. You may call 803.935.5405 with questions regarding the program.

VA Veteran Readiness & Employment (VR&E/Chapter 31) 

For Veterans with service-connected disabilities.

  1. You should apply online with the VA
  2. Once you have been approved for VR&E, the VA will have you meet with your Voc Rehab Counselor. Your Case Manager will submit a PO to the VA Certifying Official at ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½. You are not authorized to attend classes without an active PO. The VA will also provide you with an Authorization Number to purchase your books from the Campus Bookstore or to order books from the campus bookstore. ()

Returning students should complete a new Enrollment Certification Request each semester.
