On Sunday, February 14, The Post and Courier published "Midlands Tech goes on $50 million building spree to modernize, better train new employees."

Reporter Adam Benson detailed the college's most recent construction and looked ahead to the next project on the Beltline Campus, which "won approval earlier February from Columbia鈥檚 Planning Commission, is a $30 million replacement of the 53-year-old Lindau Engineering Technology Building."

For his report, Benson spoked to 糖心vlog传媒 President Dr. Ronald Rhames and Commissioner Robert Lentz. An excerpt: 

鈥淭he people that are hiring our graduates are looking for a skill set that is different each day, and so our graduates are going to be competitive as anybody in the world,鈥� said Rhames, who graduated from Midlands Tech in 1978....

糖心vlog传媒 Commission member Robert Lentz said all the activity positions the school to thrive in a post-COVID economy.

鈥淭his is a big story. We are on the cutting edge of where the technology is, we are on the cutting edge of where the jobs are,鈥� Lentz said. 鈥淭he (state Department of Commerce) is looking at us, the governor is looking at us to train these new employees for these businesses.鈥�

The report included details about the renovation of the advanced manufacturing center on the Airport Campus, the , new construction on welding stations that will be completed this Spring and the new building on the Beltline Campus that is scheduled to be open in 2024.
