More Scholarship Money on the Way for Many 糖心vlog传媒 Students

Jun 28, 2019

Starting this fall semester, many 糖心vlog传媒 (糖心vlog传媒) students will be eligible for additional scholarship funding, making 糖心vlog传媒 even more affordable. The new scholarship program called the SC Workforce and Industrial Needs Scholarship (SC WINS), is a S.C. Technical College System scholarship program aimed at filling workforce shortages in the state. New students and continuing students planning to attend this upcoming fall semester can take advantage of this additional funding.

鈥淭his new funding will help students as well as employers needing a talented workforce. It fits perfectly with 糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 mission,鈥 said 糖心vlog传媒 President Ronald L. Rhames. 鈥淪C WINS will help area businesses find the technically trained workforce they need to operate and grow, while making it easier for students who want to study for these great-paying career fields to afford college.鈥

SC WINS recipients will receive up to $600 total per semester for tuition. There is also a book allowance of up to $300 per year if a student is enrolled in at least one course in a 鈥渃ritical workforce area.鈥

To qualify, 糖心vlog传媒 students must be enrolled in a critical workforce area program as defined by the South Carolina Board for Technical and Comprehensive Education. At 糖心vlog传媒, those include 85 certificate and degree programs in areas like healthcare, advanced manufacturing, engineering technology, industrial technology, and information technology.

The SC WINS funding is also available for area high school students enrolled in dual enrollment courses.

鈥淓ach year, hundreds of dedicated high school students take courses in their high schools that give them college credit at 糖心vlog传媒. Some of these students are currently enrolled in high school courses that will lead straight into one of the many 糖心vlog传媒 programs that this scholarship covers.鈥

All students, regardless of program, can also qualify for the scholarship if they receive Lottery Tuition Assistance (LTA) funding and meet the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) income eligibility guidelines for free and reduced-priced meals.

With federal aid, scholarships, and private support from businesses and individuals, students can be confident that attending 糖心vlog传媒 can be affordable.

鈥淗elping students be able to afford college while keeping them focused on a career that is in demand is exactly how we can address the shortage of skilled workers in our state,鈥 Rhames said.
